Nina Urban joined Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV) in 2015 as Associate Director of FastForward. She is involved in all aspects of commercialization of JHU technology with a primary focus on translational research funding.
Prior to joining JHTV Urban was Acting CEO of General Genomics, LLC, a spin-out from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech). From 2009 through 2013 Urban held several positions supporting entrepreneurship at GaTech. Previous roles include Director of the Georgia Tech / Emory – Wallace H. Coulter Translational Research Program and Director of the state of Georgia’s technology incubator, the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC).
From 1999 through 2009 she was Founder/CEO of Zygogen LLC, an Atlanta-based biotechnology company that advanced the use of zebrafish for drug screening.
Urban holds a master’s degree in molecular and cellular biology from Harvard Medical School, an M.B.A. from Duke University and a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
